Pre-Kindergarten

Mrs. Donna Donaldson has taught pre-kindergarten 3 for 10 years here in Sacred Heart of Jesus School. She also oversees the Sacred Heart Library. Prior to teaching at Sacred Heart, Mrs. Donaldson taught in the Highland Falls Central School District teaching 3 years in kindergarten and 2 years in a pre-1st program. Mrs. Donaldson received her BS degree in Elementary Education from State University of New York College at Oneonta and received her MS degree in Elementary Education from State University College at New Paltz.

Mrs. Lorraine Mercado has been at Sacred Heart since 2004. She and her family are parishioners of SHJ Church. She and her husband routinely serve as eucharistic ministers at the 11:30 mass. She earned a Masters degree in Early Childhood from the college of New Rochelle. Mrs. Mercado has been teaching pre-kindergarten for 16 years and taught kindergarden for one year. For 6 years she worked as a reading tutor for children with learning disabilities in grades 1-6. She completed the required Catechist Formation program for levels 1 and 2, as well as the level 1 training for the Catechesis of the Good Shepard. She is in the process of creating and facilitating a sacred "hands-on" space for children called an Atrium. Mrs. Mercado is dedicated to working as a catholic school teacher and enjoys developing the love of learning to all of her students by creating a child-centered environment.

Mrs. Giovanna Truncale has been a pre-k teacher's aide with Mrs. Donaldson since 2007. Mrs. Truncale graduated from Florida Atlantic University with her Bachelors in Social Work. She also received a Masters Degree from C.W. Post/Long Island University, New York in Counseling/Development concentrating in Education and School Counseling.

Giovanna is a NYS certified counselor; has worked with at risk youth, and taught computers at Sacred Heart. She was an adjunct professor at Mount Saint Mary's College in Newburgh for three years, worked for Carmel Central Schools as a guidance counselor, and enjoyed substitute teaching for the Highland Falls School District.

Mrs. Lisa Evans has been at Sacred Heart since 2009. She is currently the preschool aid working with Mrs. Mercado. Prior to Sacred Heart, Mrs. Evans was a preschool aide for two years in Virginia and a preschool teacher for one year in Georgia. She has also taught religious education for three years to include working with preschoolers, high school students and seventh graders. Mrs. Evans is a graduate of Columbus State University where she received a BS Degree in Sports Medicine. She taught aerobics and worked in the sports-medicine field for twelve years.
