5th Grade
Mrs. Debra Grillo has been at been at Sacred Heart since 1981. Over the course of these years she has taught self-contained fifth and sixth grade and departmental fifth, sixth, seventh and eighth grades in the areas of science, social studies, religion, and language arts. At present she is teaching all subject areas for the fifth grade. She also helped coordinate and implement a curriculum when she taught a combined seventh and eighth grade. She was the teacher representative for the design and implementation of the school's new science lab. As an eighth grade teacher she worked on organizing and formatting the year book
Mrs. Grillo received her B.A. in Education and Economics from Queens College City University of New York, and her M.S. in Reading with a concentration in learning disabilities from St. John's University. She has received a scientific achievement award for outstanding teacher instruction from Hoffman-LaRouche and has completed the Catechist Formation Program prescribed by the Archdiocese of New York. Her previous experience includes being a second grade teacher at Holy Cross, fourth grade teacher at a New York City public school, and a tutorial reading instructor at St. John's University.
